The Strengthening Women’s Advocacy for Inclusive Governance (SWAG) campaign aims at increasing women’s participation in governance and electoral processes at local and national level in Zimbabwe. Coordinated by the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe, the campaign is implemented in all the 10 provinces of the country and involves a wide range of activities, including political education of women, workshops with duty bearers, public meetings, TV and radio shows, etc. Jonas leads a team of consultants contracted by Sida to assess the relevance and effectiveness of the campaign, and make recommendations for improvement.
Jonas is in Chisinau to conduct a training on good governance, anti-corruption and audit for Moldovan NGOs. The training is part of the project “Organisational development for core support partners in Moldova”, commissioned by the Swedish Embassy/Sida and implemented in cooperation with Swedish Development Advisers.
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is one of the largest, US-based, environmental NGOs. It works in more than 70 countries to tackle climate change, protect land and water, provide food and water sustainability, and build healthy cities. Jonas is contracted by Norad to assess TNC’s organisational structure and governance, partnership approach, results monitoring system, and financial management capacity – with a particular focus on activities in Indonesia.
In cooperation with Swedish Development Advisers, SouthBridge Development Consulting is implementing the project “Organisational development for core support partners in Moldova”, commissioned by the Swedish Embassy in Chisinau. The project includes systems-based audit, training, coaching and mentoring of selected Moldovan CSOs. In September, Jonas is conducting a systems-based audit of the National Environmental Center (NEC), a local organisation working for the protection of water resources.
Since the mid-1990s Swedish political party-affiliated organisations have received government funding for international development cooperation activities. The support is geared towards strengthening sister parties and democratic multi-party systems in developing countries. Jonas leads a team of consultants contracted by Sida to evaluate the current government strategy for such support, with a focus on the funding mechanism and methods for supporting women’s political influence. The evaluation involves case studies in three countries.
The National Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), Global Witness and Oxfam US all work to promote open and accountable natural resource management in petroleum rich countries. Jonas is contracted by Norad to lead reviews of all three organisations. This will involve an assessment of organisational structures and governance, partnership approaches, results monitoring systems and financial management capacity, with a particular focus on activities in Ghana and Myanmar.
