Civil Rights Defenders (CRD) is a human rights organisation headquartered in Stockholm and with eight regional branch offices across the world. The work of CRD falls within four broad thematic areas – security, capacity, engagement and accountability. As one of Sida’s strategic partner organisations, CRD receives funding from the Swedish strategy for support via Swedish civil society organisations. Jonas is the Team Leader for a Sida evaluation focusing on CRD’s engagement with partners in three countries (Ethiopia, Uganda and Serbia). The evaluation is expected to provide a better understanding of CRD’s contribution to partners’ capacity development, and inform the approach and methods used in this regard.
The Samdhana Institute is an Indonesian CSO working on expanding community rights, improving livelihoods and REDD+ with Norad support. Jonas is the Team Leader for an organisational review of the Samdhana Institute, focusing on aspects related to structure and governance, financial control, results management, and partnerships. Organisational reviews are part of Norad’s monitoring of its grant portfolio but also seek to help grant recipients understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Jonas has been contracted by three Swedish authorities – the Swedish National Court Administration, Swedish Prosecution Authority and Swedish Prison and Probation Service – to conduct a training on Theory of Change, MEL and gender for project leaders. The two-day training is expected to enhance knowledge and skills for results-based management and methods for project development and MEL from a gender perspective. It also provides an opportunity for the three authorities to reflect on the lessons from a previous joint project in Albania, and start developing a Theory of Change for a new, similar project with a focus on sexual and gender-based violence.
The Balkan Civil Society Network (BCSDN) is a regional network of 14 civil society organisations based in the Balkans who work together to strengthen civil society and influence European and national policies towards more enabling environment for civil society development. Sida has supported BCSDN since 2019 in setting up a Hub and a Fund for regional initiatives. Jonas is the Team Leader for the evaluation, which involves an independent assessment of the project’s performance as a whole, and the functioning of the Fund. The evaluation is expected to provide recommendations to both Sida and BCSDN, as well as inform an internal Sida dialogue about future support to civil society and the promotion of civic space in the Western Balkan region.
Pronaturaleza and Instituto del Bien Común (IBC) are two Peruvian NGOs supported by Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) since 2021. Jonas is leading a team contracted by Norad to conduct organisational reviews of Pronaturaleza and IBC, with a focus on their structure and governance, financial management capacity, results management systems, and work with partners. The organisational reviews serve an important control function but are also expected to help grant recipients understand their strengths and weaknesses.
Following his support to the development of an M&E framework for Sida’s Action Plan for Preventing and Mitigating Corruption 2021-2023, Jonas is leading a team tasked with preparing a baseline study for the same Action Plan. The assignment also includes supporting adaptive planning and learning on the go in Sida’s Anti-Corruption Partnership Pilot (APP) project, which is being implemented in Zambia, Moldova and Bangladesh.
